Chez Georgette

Chez Georgette

Chez Georgette is an immersive installation inspired by the work of George Grosz and his Ecce Homo drawing series, which depicted Berlin’s brothels in the early 20th century...

In this series, women are portrayed as objects of desire, while men appear as figures of power and domination. This raw and caricatural representation deeply affected me and led me to reflect on gender roles and power relations in our contemporary society.

With this installation, I aim to deconstruct these representations and offer a new reading—both ironic and nuanced. The project includes a large embroidery based on my drawings, sculptural objects, and a staged environment where gender identities are blended and blurred. Embroidered faces in pink and light blue thread soften traditional identities, while a woman’s leg emerging from the wall symbolizes the constant presence of the female body in social space.
